The programme runs in the Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand state in north India.

After an initial round of school visits, student testing and insightful conversations we concluded that the children who attend schools draw certain benefits such as social interaction, learning and schemes such as the mid – day meals and other facilities provided by the government. An auxiliary education programme would best suit their needs.

The programme runs for 6 days a week 2.5 hours each day in local government school:

  • Grade 2 and 3 are merged and taught by 2 teachers one of whom is a para teacher from the school and the other, a teacher appointed by Ugam.

  • At the center we work with students for improving their hindi, math and english learning. Alongwith these we also teach  art and/or sports.
